Chief Fire Officer Stuart Errington, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Colin Bage and Head of Corporate Resources Tony Hope have pledged County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service’s support for BRAKE Road Safety Week which launches today and runs until 26th November.
This year’s message is Speed Down Saves Lives, CDDFRS crews will be getting out and about in our area to spread the message.
Chief Fire Officer Stuart Errington, said “We know that reducing speed reduces the chances of collisions occurring and also the severity of any injuries.
“This campaign highlights the dangers of excess speeding and we fully support the message to slow down. Hopefully these messages will resonate with our residents making the roads of County Durham and Darlington safer. “
At 20mph your stopping distance is just 12 metres, half of what it is at 30mph. Imagine the difference that could make if a child ran out in front of you.” For more top tips and information on the campaign visit www.brake.org.uk
