Message from the Chief Fire Officer Steve Helps:

“Environmental sustainability is of paramount importance to us as a fire service. Our commitment to protecting lives and property extends beyond emergency response, and that’s by ensuring our environmental sustainability aligns with our duty to ensure the long-term well-being of the communities we serve.

By adopting eco-friendly practices and reducing our carbon footprint, we contribute to the preservation of natural resources and the mitigation of climate change impacts. Sustainable initiatives within the fire service not only minimize our ecological impact but also set an example for the broader community and other commercial sectors.

As frontline responders, we recognize the interconnectedness between a healthy environment and public safety. Proactive measures, such as adopting sustainable technologies, reducing waste, and promoting environmental awareness, not only make our operations more resilient but also foster a culture of responsibility and stewardship. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is a strategic investment in the resilience and safety of our communities, our people, and our staff.

I’m pleased to introduce the Services strategic commitment to improve our environmental impact through our Environmental, Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy which you can read more about by clicking the headings below…”
