About Your Council Tax

Financing the Fire and Rescue Authority 2024/25

County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Authority provides a Fire and Rescue Service to 625,100 residents (Office for National Statistics Mid-Term Figure 2015). The Authority receives approximately 40% of its funding required to deliver the service from Government support and non-domestic rates; the remaining amount is met through Council Tax payments.

In order to provide a Fire and Rescue Service in line with our priorities we require a budget of £35.4 million in 2024/25.

The budget the Authority has set for 2024/25 requires an increase in council tax.

Further details of how the funding received is spent are included in the Information for Council Tax & Non-Domestic Rate Payers 2024/25 leaflet.
