County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) has welcomed eight new Firefighters, who have transferred to CDDFRS from Services across the UK.

Following a robust process to join CDDFRS, the new starters have been undergoing training at the Service Training Centre this week (Friday, July 12) and will join their new stations and watches over the next few days.

The Firefighters have previously worked for the fire service in locations including West and North Yorkshire, London, Hertfordshire, Cumbia, Northumberland, and Scotland.

Welcoming the new transfers to the Service, Chief Fire Officer Steve Helps said: “I would like to extend a big CDDFRS welcome to the eight new Firefighters, who are joining us from Services across the UK.

“The North East is a welcoming place to live and work, with CDDFRS full of committed professionals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

"Therefore, it is fantastic to see that our Service attracts talented and experienced Firefighters from across the UK.

"I would like to wish them all the best in this new chapter in their careers.

“I look forward to seeing them on our stations very soon.”
